A mark of a soul that yearns for that comfort in God's presence is its "struggle". Once a soul falls to the comforts of this world, it muddles in the temporal satisfaction this world gives, lost from the everlasting satisfaction God offers. To struggle is to be strong in the midst of temptation and temporal pleasures. The soul is weak, the body weaker; but we acquire strength when we yearn for God, for yearning God means already having God in us.

KNOW WHO YOU ARE

From knowing our parents, we realize that we are their children. From knowing that we have teachers in class, we realize that we are students. From knowing our brothers and sisters, we learn that we are brothers and sisters also to them. The list goes on and on. And on. But from knowing God, what do we realize ourselves to be? HAVE YOU MET JOY?

At first, I did not really notice the presence of this someone. But gradually, it became apparent. I found more meaning in my life through Joy. Joy made me realize how much blessed I am. What a God-given gift is Joy. As much as I’d like to keep Joy in my life and to myself, I cannot, especially since I’m a seminarian. To be clear, I’m not talking about a girl or any person named Joy, if that ever crossed your mind.
